- 1). Blot up as much of the stain as possible with paper towels. Press the paper towels into the stain until you saturate the paper towel, then get a clean one and repeat the blotting. Continue until no more liquid comes out of the carpet. Do not rub the carpet with the paper towel.
- 2). Mix 1/2 teaspoon of clear, bleach-free dishwashing liquid and 1 cup of warm water in a bowl. Dampen a white cloth with the soapy solution and blot the stain again. With each new blot, turn the soapy, damp cloth to a clean spot. Continue blotting until no more color comes out of the carpet.
- 3). Pour 1/3 cup clean water over the stain to rinse out the soap. Blot the water up with a white towel.
- 4). Mix 1 cup of household vinegar in a bowl with 2 cups of warm water. Use a clean white cloth to blot the stain in the same manner you blotted with the soapy solution. Continue until the vinegar draws no more juice out of the carpet.
- 5). Pour 1/3 cup water over the stain to rinse, and blot with a clean white towel. Let the carpet air-dry.
