- 1). Lift the lint screen from the dryer, and remove the lint with your hand. Then, scrub the screen under hot running water with a nylon scrub brush. This will remove the smell if it was originating from the lint trap.
- 2). Make a paste with powdered laundry detergent and warm water. Or, use an all-purpose household cleaner, and dilute it with water per label instructions.
- 3). Moisten a rag with the chosen cleaner, and wipe down the inside of the dryer with it.
- 4). Wet another rag with clean water, and wipe down the inside of the dryer to rinse. Open the door of the dryer to air-dry inside.
- 5). Check on the dryer the next day. If it still has an odor, clean and rinse it again. This time, mix 90 percent water and 10 percent liquid bleach, and use this solution to clean the dryer.
