My Kenmore Elite H4 Is Not Drying

    Lint Screen

    • Kenmore recommends cleaning the lint screen before each cycle. The screen is located at the bottom of the dryer door opening. You can lift the screen out to clean it. A full or clogged lint screen can prevent the dryer from getting the laundry dry. Only use your hand to roll the lint off the screen because cleaning it with water makes the lint harder to remove.

    Exhaust Vent or Hood

    • Sometimes the exhaust vent or hood can get a lint buildup that affects the machine’s ability to dry your laundry. Confirm that the exhaust vent behind the dryer is not crinkled. If it is, reshape it. Check air movement from the outside exhaust hood by powering on the dryer and placing your hand under the hood to feel for air movement. If there is nothing, you need to power off the dryer and clean out the clog preventing air from coming out of the exhaust hood.

    Power Problem

    • The Kenmore Elite H4 dryer, like other dryers, requires either two circuit breakers or two fuses to operate. If only one of those goes bad, you can have a dryer with power but no heat. Checking your circuit breaker box, or fuse box, will confirm if this is the problem. If you do have a blown fuse, you can only replace it with a time-delay fuse.

    Cycle or Load Size

    • All cycles except for the “air dry” cycle are heated. As a result, your laundry may not be getting dry if you are using the air dry cycle. Change to a different cycle to get heat and dry the laundry. The size of your laundry load may also be to blame for the unsatisfactory drying. Remove some of the items from the dryer so that your laundry can get dry.
