- 1). Turn the knob hook inside the Kirby shampoo nozzle and press down on the foot pedal on the Kirby vacuum to raise the vacuum up off the floor. Slide the nozzle on to the Kirby vacuum attachment knob, located on the right side of the vacuum head. Turn the knob clockwise to lock it into place.
- 2). Open the shampoo tank lid and turn it over. Pour the Kirby-brand shampoo into the built-in measuring cup and pour 1 or 2 cupfuls into the shampoo tank. Add clean tap water to the fill line. Install the shampoo tank onto the top of the shampooer attachment and connect the shampoo tray on the front of the Kirby vacuum. Connect the shampoo tank to the tray with the included hose.
- 3). Press down on the foot pedal to lower the tray all the way to the floor. Plug in the Kirby vacuum and turn the vacuum to the "On" position. Press down on the yellow pedal to set the vacuum in "Drive" mode and open the cap on the top of the shampoo tank slightly. This will cause shampoo foam to be created in the shampoo tank.
- 4). Remove the hose from the tray on the front of the unit and let the shampoo foam exit the hose into the front tray. Fill the tray with shampoo foam and reconnect the hose to the tray. Pull the Kirby vacuum in reverse to set down a layer of foam on the carpet. Let the foam sit on the carpet for at least 3 minutes. Create sections of foam on the carpet that are 4 by 10 feet in size.
- 5). Close the cap on the shampoo tank firmly. This will stop the production of foam. Pull the Kirby vacuum in reverse over the foam to pick up the shampoo. Empty the tray if it fills with water and shampoo and then reattach it to the vacuum.
- 6). Allow the carpet to dry thoroughly after shampooing, and then vacuum again with the Kirby vacuum in standard mode.
