- 1). Remove the negative battery cable from the battery terminal. Turn the bolt on the cable's clamp at least two rotations with the wrench or pair of pliers. Lift the clamp from the terminal and place it away from the battery. Move to the passenger cabin of the vehicle.
- 2). Take the factory stereo from the vehicle's stereo dock. Consult your vehicle's shop manual for removal instructions. Unplug the wiring connected to the back of the unit.
- 3). Insert the included installation collar into the vehicle's dashboard mount. Force the tabs inside the collar outward with a flat-head screwdriver to hold the collar in place inside the dashboard.
- 4). Connect the stereo wiring lead connectors with the wiring harness leads. The harness will enable you to connect the new Sony head unit to the stereo wiring of varying vehicles.
- 5). Insert the plastic wiring harness adapter leads into the outlets locate on the right side of the CDX-L300's rear panel. Plug the vehicle's antenna cable lead into the input on the lower left of the deck, opposite the stereo wiring outlets on the back of the stereo.
- 6). Feed the Sony straight into the installation collar until you hear the two distinct audible clicks to signify the head unit is fully seated within the dash. Return to the battery.
- 7). Reconnect the negative battery cable. Place the cable's clamp onto the negative terminal post. Screw the bolt with the wrench or pliers until the clamp is tightened around the post. Close the vehicle's hood.
