- 1). Purchase a bypass kit. These are available from any automotive parts dealership or online. These kits enable you to safely and easily bypass the wiring for the transponder inside your ignition and enable your car to start without the transponder's permission. Install according to the manufacturer's directions for your make and model car.
- 2). Buy a blank key and have it cut for your lock. Since you are no long using the transponder, you can buy an inexpensive key at any hardware store. With a bypass in place, the transponder in your ignition will no longer be looking for the key's coded signal to start the car.
- 3). Place your transponder key's head within a few inches of your ignition if you are unable or unwilling to buy a bypass kit. Place it out of site by either taping or gluing it underneath the plastic shell for the steering column or underneath the steering column itself. Use hot glue for a quick and easy adhesive.
