- 1). Raise the hood of the 626 and disconnect the negative battery cable from the negative battery lead post. Use a 10 mm wrench to loosen the cable's clamp. Move the cable away from the battery until the new CD player has been installed.
- 2). Place the prongs of the DIN removal tools at the openings on either side of the Mazda's stereo face. Slightly squeeze the tools to align to prongs with the holes. Push the tools into the holes until the tools lock into place.
- 3). Pull outward on the tools to disengage the spring loaded mechanisms on the sides of the stereo. Pull the tools away from the dashboard to slide the stereo from the stereo mounting dock of the 626.
- 4). Unplug the two white plastic wire connectors from the rear panel of the Mazda's factory stereo. Disconnect the black antenna cable from the back of the stock deck.
- 5). Slide the DIN cage (or installation sleeve/collar) into the vacant stereo dock. Feed the stereo wiring and antenna cable through the front of the collar.
- 6). Fold the metal tabs at the opening of the cage downward with a flat screwdriver. The tabs will secure the sleeve into place within the dock.
- 7). Plug the white plastic connectors of the stereo wiring into the wiring connectors on the wiring harness adapter.
- 8). Plug the wiring harness adapter leads into the outlets on the back panel of the new CD player. Consult the wiring harness adapter manual for exact connection locations and procedure.
