How to Clean a Follett Ice Machine

    • 1). Turn off the ice maker and unplug from the electrical supply.

    • 2). Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a stainless steel cleaner, available at most grocery stores, hardware stores or home repair stores.

    • 3). Open the front access panels and use a small vacuum to suction out excess dirt or debris on the condenser coils.

    • 4). Press the "Clean" button, which will cause the machine to drain. Wait for the "Lo Water" indicator light to illuminate.

    • 5). Mix together 1 gallon water at 120 degrees Fahrenheit with 7 oz. ice machine cleaner, available online or at specialty appliance stores. Pull out the cleaning cup, located on the right side of the interior of the machine, and fill with the cleaning mixture until the "Hi Water" indicator light illuminates.

    • 6). Replace cover on the cleaning cup and set on a stable surface. The ice machine will clean itself and then flush three times. This process takes approximately 15 minutes.

    • 7). Press the "Clean" button and wait for the machine to drain and the "Lo Water" light to illuminate.

    • 8). Mix together 1 gallon water at 120 degrees Fahrenheit and 1.6 oz. ice machine sanitizer, available online or in specialty appliance stores. Fill the cleaning cup until the "Hi Water" light illuminates. Place the cover back on the cleaning cup, set on a stable surface, and wait for the machine to clean and flush. This process takes approximately 15 minutes.

    • 9). Place the cleaning cup back inside the machine and close the access panel. Line up the ventilation louvers with the condenser air duct when replacing the access panel. Turn the ice machine on and plug into the power supply.
