If you've been wondering whether to throw all those old classic TV series and movies in the bin or take them to your local charity shop, well hang on for one second, because there is a way that you can relive all your old favourites movies and TV series.
Most of us still have video tapes knocking around somewhere, unwatched and unloved and gathering dust, replaced by the latest releases on DVD or Blue Ray.
But sometimes there's nothing better than settling down to watch an old favourite on a Sunday afternoon, and if your old favourites are still on video tape, don't worry because there's no need to fork out loads of money re-buying them all on DVD.
As long as you still have your video recorder (hopefully gathering dust with your tapes, personal CD player, inline skates and all those other 'it was cutting edge at the time' purchases languishing in the attic or spare room), you can watch all your old videos, enhanced on your HD TV.
But wait, you're saying - my VCR and my high definition television are worlds apart, members of a different technological generation; they have as much in common with each other as I do with my inline skates! Well, yes and no.
Whilst your new TV doesn't have a SCART input and your VCR most definitely doesn't have an HDMI port, that doesn't mean all is lost.
With a SCART to HDMI converter acting as a go-between signal up-scaler and converter you can connect your VCR to your high definition TV and be able to bring back memories of all those films and TV programmes that you thought were consigned to the dim and distant past.
No need to throw your videos away, no need to try and burn them to DVD (because let's face it, who knows how to even start going about that?!) and no need to buy a new DVD player with an HDMI input just to replace an older DVD player with a SCART input.
You'll even be able to watch all those old home movies that you painstakingly videoed at weddings, surprise 60th birthday parties and on family holidays - all in glorious high definition.
A SCART to HDMI converter is a simple plug and play device that, whether you're crying, laughing or wincing at the memories, will have you wondering why you didn't buy one sooner.
