How to Get the Shell Off a Truck

    • 1). Open the shell door and tailgate, then crawl into the bed. Look for J-shaped hooks that secure the bed to the shell.

    • 2). Unbolt the hooks using the 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets. Place the hooks to the side.

    • 3). Clip the wiring that leads to the third brake light, if your shell is equipped with one, using the wire cutters.

    • 4). Place an assistant at each corner or side of the shell. Slide the shell back from the cab and lift it up vertically.

    • 5). Move the shell away from the truck bed.
