How to Care for Fresh Cut Daffodil Without Water

    • 1). Cut the daffodils in the early morning or late in the evening when the outside temperature is cool. This is when most of the nutrients are inside of the stems. Cut them at the base of the bulb from which they are growing. You may need to dig a little with a hand shovel. The bulb also contains much of the nutrients and moisture that will keep the flower looking fresh longer.

    • 2). Place the cut daffodils on a clean pan inside a refrigerator. Keeping fresh-cut flowers in a refrigerator will make them live three times as long, even without a water source. Be sure to use the daffodils after only a day of leaving them in the refrigerator.

    • 3). Arrange the flowers in a floral decoration on the day you want to display them, such as for a party or a wedding reception. If possible, keep the room temperature below 70 degrees, since daffodils fair better in cool weather. Do not arrange the flowers with fruit, because fruits put off a gas that causes flowers to wilt quicker.
