How to Add Limestone to a Cyrtosperma Plant

    • 1). Aerate the soil to a depth of 3 inches, using a pitchfork. Carefully avoid the area at the base of cyrtosperma plants or you could puncture the root system.

    • 2). Pour the powdered limestone into a small plastic bucket.

    • 3). Protect your hands with gardening gloves and scoop up a small portion of the limestone into one of your hands.

    • 4). Sift the crushed limestone from your hands onto the shallow water surrounding the cyrtosperma plants. Spread the limestone evenly so that it covers the surface in a single layer. Spread from the base of the plants to an area 3 feet outside the base of the plants. The limestone will sink to the soil beneath the water and raise the pH of the soil.
