How to Sew With a Necchi Machine

    • 1). Thread the machine following the arrows, running the thread from the spool through the machine and down the front, looping the thread through the needle guide at the top of the piece housing the sewing machine's needle. Thread the needle from left to right and pull the ends of the thread under the presser foot and to the back.

    • 2). Place a full bobbin in the bobbin case and pull the end of the thread into the slit on the edge of the bobbin case until about 4 inches of thread slack are coming out of the side of the metal bobbin case. Hold the bobbin case by the handle and insert into the space below the needle, exposed by sliding the bobbin plate cover to the left. Slide the bobbin plate cover to the right to close the bobbin case area.

    • 3). Hold the end of the thread extending from the needle and top of the machine then rotate the wheel on the side of the machine clockwise, slowly, lowering the needle below the plate cover then rising up again. The thread at the end of the needle will have looped the thread from the bobbin and brought it up above the presser foot. Pull the bobbin thread the rest of the way out, and line up the ends of the threads, pulling them under the presser foot and toward the back of the machine.

    • 4). Place a piece of fabric underneath the presser foot, but on top of the slide plate. Lower the presser foot, trapping the fabric securely.

    • 5). Press on the sewing machine's foot pedal, lightly; this is similar to depressing the accelerator in a car. The machine will lower and raise the needle, producing stitches in the fabric.

    • 6). Allow the machine to run for a second, placing several stitches in a row, then, if desired, press the button to reverse the stitching, backing over those initial stitches to reinforce the thread. Release the reverse button and continue over the stitching and past it to sew the fabric. Repeat the reverse then forward stitching at the end to reinforce the thread again.

    • 7). Raise the presser foot and cut the ends of the thread, releasing the fabric from the machine. This process can be repeated using alternative stitching options, such as changing the machine to produce a zigzag stitch with the adjustment of the stitch controls, located on the front or lower-right of the machine, depending on the model.
