- 1). Vacuum the carpet surface with a standard vacuum, to remove as much dirt and debris as possible.
- 2). Run water at the sink until it flows hot. Turn off the water and screw the "Hose Meter Assembly" to the water faucet. The hose assembly connects the water supply to the shampoo tank and the cleaning wand.
- 3). Set the "Siphon Tube" from the other end of the hose meter assembly into the Bissell cleaning solution tank and set the cleaning solution tank in the sink. Keep the end of the siphon tube submerged in the liquid at all times, as this fills the PowerSteamer with a mix of cleaning solution and water during use.
- 4). Leave the cleaning solution tank in the sink. Unwind enough hose to reach to the farthest point of the cleaning area. The hose runs from the faucet to the cleaning wand and the excess hose winds around the top of the vacuum. Plug the PowerSteamer Deluxe power cord into a working electrical outlet. Turn the main power switch to "On."
- 5). Hold the end of the carpet cleaning head approximately six inches above the carpet surface and squeeze the cleaning trigger on the handle. Dampen the carpet surface area thoroughly with the cleaning solution. Hold the trigger for 10 seconds or more each time, to allow time for the cleaning solution to mix with water, when dispensing.
- 6). Set the carpet cleaning head on the carpet and squeeze the trigger, while pulling the cleaning head toward you. Suction up the shampoo and dirt. Pull the cleaning head over the carpet surface, without pressing the trigger, to further suction up dirt and water.
- 7). Turn off the carpet cleaner when there is a change in tone, ranging from a higher to a lower pitch, indicating that the recovery tank is full. Disconnect the power and remove the top of the water tank. Turn off the water at the faucet and empty the dirty water. Rinse the tank. Replace the top and reassemble the tank on the unit. Reconnect power and resume cleaning.
- 8). Place the siphon tube in clean water, when cleaning is finished, and run the carpet cleaner to flush out dirty water and solution. Disconnect the power and rinse the removable parts of the carpet cleaner with water. Set them all aside to dry completely before reassembling the machine.
