- 1). Locate and remove the screw that secures the terminal block housing cover onto the back of the oven. Use a flat-head screwdriver for this. You can locate the cover easily by looking for the "Hazard: Electric Shock" sticker placed over or next to the cover.
- 2). Place the relief strainer into the hole next to the terminal block and tighten the screws that hold the strain relief in place, two or three rotations.
- 3). Slide the pigtail through the strain relief until you have enough wire inside the terminal housing to work with. Approximately 10 inches is sufficient. Tighten the screws on the strain relief to lock the pigtail in place.
- 4). Locate the copper strip that connects the neutral terminal to the grounding terminal and remove it. This is the only copper strip located inside the terminal housing.
- 5). Connect the positive wires on the pigtail to the outside terminals by loosening the terminal screws with a screwdriver and then by securing the wires to the screws. Finally, tighten the terminal screws. A diagram that comes with the pigtail shows you which wire is which.
- 6). Secure the neutral wire to the middle terminal in the same manner as you secured the positive wires.
- 7). Secure the ground wire to the ground terminal. In most cases, the ground terminal is off to the side and the bolt is anodized in a green color.
- 8). Place the terminal cover in place and secure it with the screw.
