- Melilotus alba blooms from June to October in small, white fragrant flowers on tall, lupine-like stalks. The seed pods are black and hold a single seed.
- For small areas of infestation, hand pulling the weed in late fall is recommended. Large areas such as grasslands require burning. The area needs to be burned two years in a row.
- Pulling melilotus alba is an easier task if the soil is thoroughly moistened the day before. Since the weed's seeds are viable for 30 years, check the area annually for any new growth.
