How to Make a Character out of a Popsicle Stick

    Playtime Characters

    • 1). Use scissors to cut several circles out of sheets of construction paper to make the head of the character. Make the circles about 2 inches in diameter for a head that's in proportion to the rest of the character, or you can make them bigger or smaller if you'd like.

    • 2). Draw the shapes of pants, tops, or a dress onto craft paper and cut them out. Use these to dress the character.

    • 3). Pick up a single craft eyeball with a pair of tweezers and dip the backside of it into tacky craft glue. Place the eyeball onto the head, either in the place where a human's eyes would go or anywhere else if you're creating an imaginary figure. For instance, stick the eyeball in the center of the head to make a cyclops.

    • 4). Decorate the rest of the head using stickers, glitter or crayons and markers. You can also decorate the clothing you cut out earlier.

    • 5). Glue the character's head onto the top inch of a Popsicle stick. Beneath the head, glue the clothing onto the stick as well. Allow the character to dry for at least half an hour to make sure all the parts stay in place.

    • 6). Pull apart a few cotton balls until they are small pieces of cotton fluff. Glue a few pieces onto the character's head to create fluffy hair. To change the color of the hair, simply color it with a marker using gray, red, brown, black, yellow or any other color you'd like.

    Edible characters

    • 1). Buy extra large marshmallows from a grocery store. The kind that are used to make s'mores work well for this project.

Stick one extra large marshmallow onto the end of a Popsicle stick. Don't push too far to prevent the Popsicle stick from going through both ends of the marshmallow.

    • 3). Dip a cotton swab into chocolate syrup and rub a small amount onto the marshmallow head of the character. Using the chocolate syrup the same way you'd use glue, stick small sprinkles, candies or raisins onto the marshmallow to create a face.
