- 1). When a stain occurs, sop up as much as possible by blotting with a handful of paper towels. Don't rub, as this could spread the stain to unaffected areas of the concrete countertop.
- 2). Next, apply an absorbing agent to the countertop. Baking soda works well or, even, kitty litter. Use whatever you have on hand, placing a thick layer over the stain.
- 3). Let the absorbant sit for about 30 minutes, and then wipe up and discard. In many cases, the entire stain is absorbed, putting the concrete countertop back into its original condition.
- 4). If any stain remains, mix a dish detergent and ammonia solution (white vinegar can replace ammonia if needed). In a small dish, mix 1/2 cup of cold water with a spoonful of dish detergent, along with a spoonful of ammonia or vinegar.
- 5). Pour a small amount of the solution over the stain, and rub it with a cloth or soft brush. Repeat as needed until all of the stain is gone.
- 6). When the stain has been cleared away, wipe the area clean with a damp cloth to remove any remaining residue.
