- 1). Turn your hot water on and let it run until it reaches its hottest temperature. Hold a thermometer in the running water for approximately 10 seconds. Remove the thermometer and read the temperature. Typically, you want your hot water to be about 110 degrees. Temperatures above 125 can cause serious burns.
- 2). Locate your instant hot water tank. Depending on the model, the temperature adjustment will either be on the side of the unit, or on top. Some units may show a temperature range for the water, while others will simply say "hotter" or "colder," also indicated by a color strip of red to blue (indicating hot and cold, respectively) on the knob adjustment.
- 3). Turn the knob to adjust the temperature either hotter or colder, depending on your needs.
- 4). Run the hot water again from the faucet, getting it to its hottest temperature. Place the thermometer in the running water for about 10 seconds and read the temperature. Once it is within your desired range, you are all set.
