- 1). Collect twigs that are less than 1/2 inch in diameter from a mature Tulsi bush.
- 2). Peel off the bark, scraping it away with the pen knife.
- 3). Cut the twigs to the approximate size you want with the pruning shears.
- 4). Select the smallest drill to drill out the pulpy center of the twig.
- 5). Hold the bead steady and drill out the core very slowly and carefully.
- 6). Leave the beads to dry completely in a open space for several days.
- 7). Create the final shape of the bead with the file and smooth out any sharp edges. Traditionally Tulsi beads are slightly rounded.
