How to Replace the Oven Sensor on a GE Range

Things You'll Need

Instructions

1

Unplug the oven from the wall or turn off the oven breaker in your fuse box.
2

Remove the oven racks from the oven and set them aside.
3

Locate the oven sensor, which is located at either the base of the upper heating element on the rear oven wall or on the upper-left side of the rear oven wall. The oven sensor appears to be a rectangular piece of thin metal.
4

Remove the bolt at the bottom of the oven sensor. Then pull the sensor, along with the wires connected to it, away from the back wall of the oven.
5

Un-clip the wire harness connected to the sensor. Then remove the sensor from the oven.
6

Clip the wire harness of the new oven sensor into the oven wire harness, then push the wires back into the back wall of the oven.
7

Secure the oven sensor to the back wall of the oven by replacing the bolt that was originally removed.
8

Replace the oven racks, then restore power to the oven to complete the replacement of the oven sensor.
