- 1). Mix the starch according to the instructions on the package. Make (or set aside) one cup of starch liquid.
- 2). Pour the cup of mixed starch into an empty, clean spray bottle. Add 2 tbsp. of glow-in-the-dark powder. Close the cap and shake well to mix.
- 3). Lay a sheet of computer paper (or any other type of paper you want to make glow) on a larger sheet of newspaper.
- 4). Spray the paper with starch solution until it's saturated; the paper should be limp and darker in color throughout.
- 5). Flip the paper over and spray the other side.
- 6). Move the soaked paper to sit on a sheet of waxed paper. Let dry; it will be rough and wrinkly.
- 7). Flatten the paper. Place the page between two dry sheets of paper (any kind) and iron the middle page straight using a dry, hot iron set in the lower third of its heat range.
- 8). Test the paper. Hold the sheet next to a light bulb or in sunlight for 30 seconds, then view it in a dark area (such as a closet or bathroom with the lights turned out). If the paper appears splotchy, do a second round of spraying to further saturate it. If you still want a higher concentration of glowing particles, do all successive rounds of spray using a solution of one part glowing powder and six parts water.
