Shopping for Vintage Outdoor Furnishings at the Rose Bowl Flea Market
Low-slung rattan furniture became popular during and after World War II, when returning soldiers brought home memorbilia and memories of the South Pacific Islands. Later referred to as "Tropical Deco", "Polynesian", or "Hawaiiana", the rattan furniture of the 1940s -- 1960s was sturdy and durable, if stored properly off-season. This set includes a three-piece sectional couch (or three separate chairs) and a side table.
Upholstered cushions will have to be made, and can cost around $400 and up, depending on the material (reproduction barkcloth is the best), if you opt for welting (piping) and zippers.
