- The Consumer Product Safety Commission has advised that 104 degrees Fahrenheit is the maximum temperature for healthy adults in a hot tub. The commission reports several deaths from the use of hot tubs at 110 degrees. The CPSC also warns that high temperatures can cause drowsiness, which may lead to unconsciousness, resulting in drowning.
- The CPSC recommends 100 degrees as a safe hot tub water temperature for a healthy adult. Even at this temperature, Par Pool and Spa warns that people with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or other cardiovascular conditions should consult their physicians before using a hot tub.
- Temperatures below 100 degrees are recommended for pregnant women, elderly people and older children. Infants and toddlers should not use a hot tub at all due to the risk of overheating.
