- According to the company's web pages, Scotts Bonus S Southern Weed and Feed fertilizes the lawn to strengthen the grass, providing better tolerance of both heat and drought. The slow-release fertilizer with weed control covers 5,000 or 10,000 square feet of lawn depending upon which size of bag you purchase. Bonus S Southern Weed and Feed kills dollarweed, dandelion, oxalis, chickweed, purslane and several other common weeds. Use it on St. Augustine, floratam St. Augustine, carpetgrass, centipede and zoysia lawns. Apply in spring or any time weeds are actively growing in the lawn, and water the lawn thoroughly so the product will penetrate the grass. On warm days with temperatures above 80 degrees Fahrenheit, water immediately after applying weed and feed. Bonus S Southern Weed and Feed has a fertilizer analysis of 29-1-10.
- In addition to fertilizer and weed killer, Bonus S Max Southern Weed and Feed includes fire ant killer. Fire ants are a common invader of southern lawns. The product kills the same types of weeds as regular Bonus S. Additionally, the insecticide component of Bonus S Max kills fire ants for six months, according to the Scotts website. The insecticide also kills earwigs, mole crickets, sod webworms, ticks, chiggers, fleas and several other insect pests. Bonus S Max provides 26-2-9 fertilizer and should be used only on St. Augustine, floratam St. Augustine, centipede, zoysia and carpetgrass. Do not apply Bonus S Max to Bermuda grass. Apply the product to dry grass. Use a spreader if you have one, to ensure accurate and thorough application. Water the grass deeply after applying Scotts Bonus S Max.
- Designed for use on St. Augustine, floratam, carpetgrass, zoysia and centipede lawns whenever weeds are actively growing, Lawn Pro Super Bonus S has a fertilizer analysis of 26-2-14. The higher nitrogen content speeds greenup and improves a lawn's ability to absorb water. The product kills evening primrose, rabbit-tobacco, dollarweed, dandelions, red sorrel, stinging nettle and several other common weeds.
- Scotts Turf Builder with Plus 2 Weed Control is the only type of weed and feed product that must be applied to wet grass. Do not use this on dry grass during the heat of the day, and wait 24 hours before watering the lawn again. This is a slow-release fertilizer that controls ragweed, pennywort, curly dock, scarlet pimpernel, ground ivy, fleabane, pigweed and several other broadleaf weeds. Apply initially in late spring, and one or two times more if needed during the remainder of the year. Turf Builder with Plus 2 Weed Control has a fertilizer analysis of 28-1-4. Scotts also makes a "Winterguard" version of this product (26-2-12).
- Do not use Bonus S products if your lawn contains Bermuda, bahia, bluegrass, fine or tall fescue, dichondra or bentgrass. Use Turf Builder products instead.
