- 1). Select a mounting position on the wall for installing the recessed speaker. Locate the wall mount bracket template that is typically included with wall mount recessed speakers.
- 2). Attach the template to the wall with masking tape in the location where you plan to install the speaker. Score the drywall with the tip of a drywall hole saw and remove the template.
- 3). Cut out the scored template shape with the drywall hole saw and remove the loose drywall. Determine the location from which you'll run the speaker wire and drill a 1-inch to 2-inch hole with a hole saw and a drill. Choose a location for the hole that is between the same wall studs as the template cutout, if possible.
- 4). Insert the end of a fish tape in the template opening in the wall and up to the small round hole that you cut. Tape the end of the speaker wire to the fish tape with electrical tape and pull the wire down and out of the template opening.
- 5). Install the wall mounting plate for the recessed speaker in the template opening. Secure the plate to the wall with the included dry wall anchor screws and a screwdriver.
- 6). Strip the end of the speaker wires back at least 1 inch with wire strippers. Connect the speaker wires to the terminals of the speaker, paying attention to connect the positive wire to the positive terminal and the negative wire to the negative terminal.
- 7). Install the speaker in the mounting plate with screws. Position the speaker so it sits straight in the wall and secure it in place with the included mounting screws. Place the speaker grill on the recessed speaker and snap it securely in place.
