How to Make a Boat With Foil, Paper & a Straw

    • 1). Pull out a piece of aluminum foil and lay your box on top. You need enough foil to cover the sides. Measure and tear the aluminum foil.

    • 2). Fold the aluminum foil up over the sides of the box and into the inside. This keeps the boat from being damaged by the water.

    • 3). Cut a 3-inch-by-4-inch piece of paper and decorate it anyway you like. You can turn it into a flag or leave it white. This will be your sail. If you use paint, allow it to dry for one hour.

    • 4). Turn the flag so that the long sides are vertical, and punch one hole in the top center of the sail and one in the bottom center.

    • 5). Bend the flag slightly and stick the straw through the bottom hole and then through the top hole.

    • 6). Roll up a small ball of playdough about the size of quarter and stick it in the center of the sailboat.

    • 7). Stick the bottom of the straw into the playdough to secure the sail in place.

    • 8). Test the sailboat out by floating it down a river or in the bathtub.
