- 1). Measure each span of the wall coming off the starting corner. Pick pieces of moulding longer than each of the spans.
- 2). Cut the first piece starting with the end that's going in the starting corner. Stand the piece on the miter saw, in the same way it will go against the wall, with the end of the piece under the saw blade. Turn the blade 45 degrees inward if it's an inside corner or outward if it's an outside corner. Cut the trim.
- 3). Mark the other end of the trim to the length of the wall, measuring from the cut on the back side of the trim. Cut the other end in the same manner as you cut the first end, swiveling the blade based on whether it's an inside or outside corner.
- 4). Repeat the whole process for the second piece of trim coming off the starting corner.
- 5). Set the two pieces of cut trim in place in the corner before you nail either of them to make sure the miter forms a tight line. Secure the pieces by shooting nails with a trim nailer every foot or so along the upper and lower edges of each board.
