Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Find the circulating air filter on the exterior of the Goodman furnace cabinet. Slide the filter out and replace it with a new one if the filter is blocked or dirty. Most filters for this unit are disposable and should be replaced instead of washed.
2
Locate the main power switch on the control panel of the furnace. Turn the switch to "On" if the furnace is not operating. Reset or replace the circuit breaker or fuse if needed.
3
Inspect the gas valve if there is power to the Goodman furnace but the furnace is not firing or heating. The gas valve should be turned completely to “On.” Stop immediately if you smell gas and turn the furnace power switch to “Off.” Leave the house and contact your gas company.
4
Close windows and doors when the furnace is in use if the heating seems inadequate. Check the supply air and return air grilles in the house to make sure that the vents are set to open and are not obstructed by furniture or other objects or items. Reduce the use of kitchen exhaust fans when the furnace is in use.
5
Move the thermostat to the lowest setting if the power was lost. Shut off power to the furnace. Remove the access panel on the furnace and turn the gas control switch to “Off.” Wait five minutes to allow the gas to clear the lines. Stop and sniff carefully around the furnace, including the floor area. Stop immediately if you smell gas and leave the house to call the gas company. Move the gas control switch back to “On” if there is no smell of gas. Close the access panel and restore power to the furnace. Set the thermostat to “Heat” and the desired temperature.
