- 1). Rinse the bottle out well to remove any leftover product. Turn it upside down in a dish drainer and allow it to air dry.
- 2). Locate a very small, green tomato in the garden that will easily fit through the opening of the 2-liter bottle. The tomato needs to have a long stem, too. Carefully separate the tomato and its stem from the rest of the vine.
- 3). Place the tomato carefully through the bottle opening and down inside. Place the bottle next to a large, strong tomato vine. Position it so the bottle gets some shade and isn't in the hot sun all the time. Anchor the bottle to the branch using twist ties or string to prevent it from blowing away. Don't tie it too tight or you can damage the tomato vine.
- 4). Wait for the tomato to mature and ripen. Then, untie the bottle from the vine. Cut the tomato from the vine with a pair of sharp scissors.
