How to Make an Origami Flying Heart

    • 1). Fold in half and crease a square piece of paper. Unfold it and fold it in half the opposite direction you just folded. This should make a plus-sign shape across the paper.

    • 2). Fold the top quarter of the paper backward and flatten it down behind the piece of paper.

    • 3). Pull the two bottom corners of the paper up to the center and flatten out to form a point at the bottom. Fold the sides of the paper in to the center and crease before unfolding the sides again.

    • 4). Push in on the sides along the creases you just made until they fold in on themselves. Flatten the paper out. This fold is known as the inside reverse fold because you make a crease and then fold that crease backward before flattening.

    • 5). Locate the two squares at the top of your paper and fold the top corners down diagonally. Flatten to form two triangles where the squares were. Fold the points of the triangles down slightly to create a more rounded look to the top of your heart.

    • 6). Rotate the heart so the bottom is pointing upward. Fold a small strip at the bottom of this section, resembling a slanted rectangle, up. Crease it and then fold it down and behind. Repeat this pattern until you reach the top of the rectangle and have it folded up like an accordion.

    • 7). Pinch the center of the creases section and pull the sides down to form the wings. Tape in place if necessary and turn the paper over. You now have a heart shape with wings fanning out from behind it.
