How to Create Your Own Nursery Decor

    Baby Name Picture Frame

    • 1). Pour a small amount of white acrylic paint -- about the size of a half dollar -- onto a paper plate.

    • 2). Paint the wood on the picture frame with the paint and a craft paintbrush. Allow it to dry thoroughly.

    • 3). Pour different colors of acrylic paint onto a paper plate. It only takes a small amount of paint -- about the size of a nickel. Use colors that coordinate with the nursery bedding and other decor.

    • 4). Dip a cotton swab or small pom-pom, depending on the size dot you desire, into one of the paint colors. Apply a dot of color to the picture frame and lift the applicator away. Use a separate applicator for each paint color.

    • 5). Place random dots on the frame in all the colors until it looks the way you desire. Allow the dots to dry well.

    • 6). Position the foam letters onto the picture frame to get an idea of the best placement. Longer names may need to go down the side of the picture frame, while shorter names can go across the top. Remove the letters and set them aside.

    • 7). Peel off the self-adhesive backing and stick the letters onto the picture frame to form the name. It is now ready to decorate the baby nursery or to give as a gift for a baby shower.

    Useful Baby Wreath

    • 1). Wrap the fabric ribbon around the foam wreath by hot gluing the end of the ribbon to the back of the foam circle. Bring the ribbon around to the front and then back through the center repeatedly to cover the foam. Glue the ribbon in position every third or fourth round to hold it in place. Continue this method until the wreath is covered with the ribbon.

    • 2). Cut the ribbon so that it ends in the back of the wreath and glue it into place.

    • 3). Lay the wreath down on a work surface and position the baby toys, pacifier and other baby necessities, such as a teething ring, onto the wreath. This helps you decide on the placement. Remove the items once you decide how they look best.

    • 4). Attach the toys and other necessities onto the wreath one at a time with the hot glue gun. For the most attractive look, space larger items evenly around the wreath and fill in the spaces with smaller items. For instance, a plastic baby bottle or rattle are often larger than baby socks or thermometers. Travel- or sample-sized baby products also work well on the wreath, such as small bottles of baby lotion, shampoo or baby bath.

    • 5). Make a decorative bow and glue it onto the bottom or top of the wreath to complete the look. Add a sawtooth picture hanger onto the back of the wreath to hang it from the wall or door.
