What Can Cause ADHD?

When parents find out that their child has been diagnosed with ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, they can be stunned.
They start to wonder if it was something they did to cause this disorder to come about.
For now, it's been said that this disorder could be derived from genetics and the science of the brain.
There could also be environmental factors involved.
Parents should be concerned about how they are going to deal with the child that has this disorder.
They need to focus on the best treatment for them.
Since it has been widely known that this disorder is caused by biological elements, parents can breathe a sigh of relief.
They would not be at fault for their child's disruptive behavior.
There are some things that have been brought about by scientists which they think may cause this disorder in children: oInjury of the brain - Brain injury may have been a cause of attention disorders.
There have been children involved in accidents that resulted in brain injury.
Even though they may exhibits similar behavioral patterns of ADHD, it doesn't mean that they have the disorder.
oThe environment - There may be a link to alcohol and cigarettes while a woman is pregnant.
Engaging in these habits may cause the unborn child to develop this disorder.
Pregnant women should not engage in either habit.
Lead is another factor that may cause children to get ADHD.
Lead was found in paint from older structures and it was considered toxic.
oGenetics - There is the possibility of genetics playing a part.
Attention disorders are known to be passed down in generations.
There have been studies conducted that show within the confine of immediate relatives; there is at least a 25 rate of them having this.
In addition to that, it has been shown that twins have genetics that can be passed down to their offspring.
oSugar - Refined sugar or food additives have been also said to cause this disorder.
Some parents decided to change their child's diet so that they would not consume much sugar, if any.
The changes in their diet helped them with their disorder.
Their behavior pattern was not as disruptive and they became more focused.
It is known that giving a child a lot of sweets will cause them to be hyperactive anyway.
These causes are not necessarily etched in stone.
The best way to find out if any of these actually cause ADHD in your child is to contact their pediatrician.
