- One way to add beauty and continuity to the area surrounding an above ground pool is to add plants, trees, shrubs and bushes. This greenery can be placed all the way around the pool. In order to have the most impact, though, creativity is needed. Think about what you would like to achieve and create a theme. Whatever plants are placed around the pool must be able to take full sun and a bit of chlorine that may be splashed out of the pool. Any shrubs that are placed around the pool must be short so that they don't drop leaves into the pool. Also, care must be taken that plants do not cover the essential machinery of the pool. Plant choices include evergreen shrubs, bamboos and ornamental grasses.
- A deck can be built to make the pool seem like an essential part of the backyard. This deck can surround the entire pool or a deck can be built to connect the home to the above-ground pool. The aim of the deck is to add balance to the backyard and to the pool. The deck can have different levels; this will allow the pool to blend into the landscape.
- Further enhancement can be achieved through a fence and through the furniture. The fence and furniture have to complement the theme that has been established. To further the theme, hand decorations and vines can be fixed to the fence. Outside figurines and lighting can also be added.
