As far as we know there is no such directory of mobile numbers that the everyday user has access to.
- But some people do need a directory of mobile numbers for the purpose of investigating an unknown number.
This may be, for instance, in a situation where a wife suspects that her husband may be involved with someone else, and sees mysterious numbers on his cell phone. - She may indeed be quite willing to pay for the service of being able to get the name and address of the caller, as stated before, perhaps even more detailed public and other types of records about this caller.
She can then begin to investigate this further with a view, possibly, to see if the relationship may be salvaged. - It may be that a celebrity is getting calls from numbers unknown to them and wish to get the caller's name and address to see who is calling to issue a cease and desist order to that person, - maybe the caller is a stalker! Who knows?
- Will a directory of mobile numbers ever be compiled and made freely available online? With the growth of the Internet and the fact that more and more people are using cell phone numbers instead of regular land-line numbers, it is probably just a matter of time before this happens.
- After all, most people unwitting use their mobile numbers as contact numbers on all sorts of appointment records, medical records, and public documents such as real estate transactions.
- More and more these records are being placed online, and it is only a matter of time before these records will become searchable and thus be able to be collated into a directory of mobile numbers.
This would be a money making venture for them.
If you have a mobile number and need to find out whose number it is that is calling, and you use a search tool to try finding it first, then you may have no alternative but to use a paid service to obtain the information.
Hopefully soon a directory of mobile numbers will be made freely available for everyone to access via the Internet.
