Berkley Vanish Transition Specifications

    Color Change

    • Berkley Vanish Transition is designed to change color in the absence of light. Out of water, the line is either gold or red. Underwater, the color changes to clear. You can test this by placing your hand over the spool of line. Where the sunlight shines on it, the line is colored. When you lift your hand, the line will be clear. Because fluorocarbon line has the same refractive index as water, it is invisible to fish.

    Pound Test and Spool Sizes

    • Both colors come in 2-lb. test size increments from 4- to 14-lb. test and in 17- and 20-lb. test. Vanish Transition only comes in filler spools of 250 yards.

    Line Diameter

    • Fluorocarbon line is thinner than regular monofilament but not as thin as braided line. Both colors come in identical line diameters, ranging from 0.007 inches for the 4-lb. test to 0.016 inches for the 20-lb. test.

    Other Specifications

    • Unlike monofilament, fluorocarbon line does not absorb water, so Berkley Vanish Transition retains the full pound test rating and knot strength when wet. It is denser than water and will sink, causing lures to run slightly deeper. It is also resistant to abrasion from being scraped along snags and rocks.
