- 1). Determine the size of the vanity base cabinet. A standard base cabinet can measure 34½ inches high, 14¼ inches deep and 36¼ inches wide, and many counters will be made to fit over such standard dimensions.
- 2). On one ¾-inch plywood sheet, measure and mark 34½ inches by 17¼ inches for the side panels. Cut two pieces this size with the table saw.
- 3). On the ½-inch plywood sheet, measure and mark 34½ inches by 35¼ inches for the back panel, and cut it.
- 4). Measure and mark 16¾ inches by 35¼ inches on the ¾-inch plywood, and cut the bottom panel.
- 5). Measure and cut two supports from the 1-by-3 boards, each 34½ inches long.
- 6). Install a Dado blade on the table saw. Adjust the height of the table saw to ¼ inch high. Measure and mark the side panels 3 inches up from the bottom. Cut along the marks with the table saw to put a groove in each panel.
- 7). Place a bead of wood glue in the grooves in the side panels. Insert the bottom panel into the grooves and attach the clamp. Secure the panel by driving the finishing nails into sides of the boards with the nail gun.
- 8). Remove the clamp and run a bead of glue around the perimeter of the frame. Align the back panel properly on the glue-ringed frame and secure it with finishing nails using the nail gun.
- 9). Insert the 1-by-3 boards between the side panels on the top of the cabinet. Secure the 1-by-3 boards to the side panels with the nail gun.

Cut four 1-by-3 oak boards to a length of 14 3/8 inches, one board that measures 16½ inches, one board that measures 31¼ inches and two boards that measure 34½ inches. Cut one 1-by-6 oak board that measures 31¼ inches. - 11
Assemble the face frame on a flat surface. Set the 1-by-6 oak board on the bottom and place the two 34½-inch boards on each side. Measure up 10 inches from the 1-by-6 board and lay the 31¼-inch 1-by-3 board there. Measure up 5¾ inches from the 1-by-3 board and place one of the 14 3/8-inch 1-by-3 boards. Set the 16½-inch 1-by-3 board perpendicular to the 14 3/8-inch board. Set the remaining 1-by-3 boards in place to complete the frame. - 12
Drill holes into the sides of the 1-by-3 boards and connect the face frame pieces together with screws using the power drill. - 13
Set the face frame on the front of the base cabinet and secure it with finishing nails using the nail gun. - 14
Install a counter or sink to complete the base cabinet.
