Campground Review

My husband and I first visited this campground in November 2004 over Thanksgiving weekend. We took some friends and family up for the weekend. We just love this campground. So much in fact, that we have returned three times since that original visit in November and it is only January.

The campground is very spacious. It has a number of different kinds of sites that can accommodate every kind of camper whether it be tenters, 5th wheelers, or RVers. We happen to enjoy tent camping, and their non-electrical tent sites are absolutely beautiful with wonderful views of the Suwannee River. However, we have also stayed on their electrical sites during the colder weather, and they are just as nice. In addition to the wonderful sites they have to offer, they have a number of ammenities available to their campers. These include a pool, a country store, a putt-putt golf area, hiking trails, a swimming area on the river, horseback riding, the SOS Cafe, golf cart rentals, cabin rentals, a Canoe Outpost Center, and bicycle rentals all within their campground. You never have to leave once you're there. Everything is right there on the campground. They also have heated bathrooms with hot showers, which is always important. The campground also includes a great line up of annual events such as concerts, swap meets, Old Time Farm Days, and a beautiful Christmas light display that runs through the month of December, just to mention a few.

My husband and I usually always go camping with my younger nephews. This campground always has something extra to offer to keep the kids and us busy during the day. We have seen many different kinds of wildlife on each of our trips. We have seen deer, bobcats, birds, fox, and coyotes. However, we have never had any of the wildlife really bother us at our campsite, which is very important to me especially with younger children. I would highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for an enjoyable and fun filled camping getaway. My only complaint with this campground is that it isn't located closer to my home in Tampa. It takes us about three hours to get there, but it is always well worth the trip.
