- 1). Measure the length of your pond along its longest length with a tape measure. Add an additional 4 feet to the measurement.
- 2). Cut a piece of ¼-inch PVC rod or tubing to the length obtained above. Use a hacksaw for cutting.
- 3). Stick one end of the rod into the ground at one end of the pond. Stick it into the ground at least 6 inches. Stick the other end of the rod into the ground at the opposite end of the pond. Again, stick the rod at least 6 inches into the ground. This will create an arch out of the rod.
- 4). Measure the width of the pond with the tape measure and cut four pieces of the PVC rod to a length 4 feet longer than the pond is wide.
- 5). Attach the middle of each rod to the rod you already placed over the pond. Use wire ties to secure the rods together. Space each rod evenly across the length of the pond.
- 6). Bend each end of the rod down and place it at least 6 inches into the ground at each end. When completed, you have a freestanding dome made of PVC rod.
- 7). Place the pond netting over the freestanding dome and then secure the netting to the pond with wire ties. Make sure you pull the netting tight as you secure it with the wires ties to ensure the leaves do not create depressions in the net.
