How to Set the Time on the Nikon D40

    • 1). Power on the D40. If you are using it for the first time, you will be prompted to set the camera up. If not, press "Menu," then use the down arrow to select "Setup" (the wrench icon). Press the right arrow to enter the submenu. Press the down arrow until "World Time" is highlighted. Press "Set."

    • 2). Press the right arrow to enter the "Time Zone" submenu. Select your time zone, then press "Set."

    • 3). Press the down arrow once. Press the right arrow to enter the "Date" submenu. Use the arrow buttons to select the month, date, year and time. Press "Set."

    • 4). Press the down arrow once. Press the right arrow to enter the "Date Format" menu. Select how you want the date to show: "Y/M/D," "M/D/Y" or "D/M/Y." Press "Set."

    • 5). Press the down arrow once. Press the right arrow once to enter the "Daylight Saving Time" menu. Turn the daylight-saving-time option on or off with the arrow buttons. Press "Set." Press "Menu" to exit the setup mode.
