Choose Your Favorite Rum and Mix Up a Blackberry Colada Cream Soda

What were to happen if you topped a Piña Colada with vanilla soda? A purely delightful drink! That is exactly what happened when I was playing with fresh blackberries and vanilla soda and this Blackberry Colada Cream Soda recipe is the result.

This cocktail is very similar to it's inspiration, though when vanilla soda is added it becomes a hybrid between the popular pineapple-coconut drink and an old-fashioned orange cream soda (or White Carnation if you are looking for a cocktail counterpart). It is a lot of fun and the blackberries are just an added little bonus to bring a different flavor into the mix. If you like, try another berry in the muddle as any of them will work.

For the vanilla soda, I used DRY Vanilla Bean. It is a dry vanilla soda that is not too sweet or overly carbonated, but the perfect balance for creating drinks such as this. If that isn't available, look for another vanilla soda. Even a vanilla cream soda would work, though it is really not necessary because this cocktail includes coconut cream. A non-cream soda produces the same taste.
