- 1). Click the "Start" button in the form of the Windows icon on your screen.
- 2). Click on "All Programs" and find "Windows Defender" to open the program up.
- 3). Find "Options" as a sub-menu of the Windows Defender "Tools and Settings" menu and click on it.
- 4). Under "Real Time Protection Options" uncheck the box labeled "Use real-time protection (recommended)".
- 5). Scroll down the page to "Administrator Options" and uncheck the box next to "Use Windows Defender".
- 6). Click the "Save" button on the bottom of the page and confirm the following dialog message informing you that Windows Defender has been turned off by clicking "OK". All future attempts to use Windows Defender will be thwarted by a message reminding you that Windows Defender has been turned off.
