- 1). Collect your stamp albums and any purchase receipts and certificates of authenticity.
- 2). Purchase a Scott Stamp Catalog, considered the industry standard for pricing stamps of all varieties, and grab an ink pen and some notebook paper.
- 3). Read the catalog's section explaining stamp values.
- 4). Using the catalog, find the value of each stamp. Consider the condition of each stamp and adjust its value accordingly.
- 5). In the notebook, record the value of each stamp. Make special note of stamps worth more than $250 and mint stamp sets.
- 6). Add up the values to establish the total retail value of your collection.
