- 1). Measure the intended installation location. Make special note of width issues. If you will be mounting the set in an existing cabinet, make sure to note the width, height and depth.
- 2). Visit a few retailers to get a good feel of the selection of DLP sets. Bring the tape measure along. Measure the DLP sets under consideration to make sure that the room and/or furniture requirements are met. Select the TV's screen size accordingly.
- 3). Decide whether the increased initial cost of LED-based DLP sets is worth not having to replace a bulb every couple years. However, the removal of "rainbow" effects caused by a bulb-based DLP set is removed thanks to LED technology. If you are sensitive to this, LED is for you. Additionally, LED light engines are rated to last, on average, three times longer than the average bulb.
