- 1). Draw a circle in the center of your page. This will act as the top of the head reaching down to the nose. Draw five equally spaced horizontal lines inside the circle, starting at the top. Completely erase the top three lines because they were only there for reference. The eyes will be placed between the two bottom lines that you did not erase.
- 2). Draw a vertical line through the center of the circle, and extend it past the base of the circle. Sketch a V-shape with the top ends of the V touching the circle about a third of the way up the circle. Make sure that the bottom of the V is rounded and extends past the base of the circle. This will be the chin.
- 3). Draw a small horizontal line at the base of the circle to create the bottom of the nose. Draw a vertical line between the base of the V and the base of the circle for the mouth. Sketch semicircles between the two lines inside the circle, with the flat side bordering the top line.
- 4). Sketch bangs by drawing thin, upside down triangles with the tips crossing over the top line in the circle (this is the upper line of the two remaining lines). Sketch a smooth, rolling line that resembles a mountain top just under the top of the circle. These are the tops of the bangs.
- 5). Draw an upside down "U" shape around the circle with ends that extend down to the base of the circle, but do not touch the circle. This will be the exterior of the hair. Draw upside down triangles from the base of the upside down U to the circle to create the base of the hair.
- 6). Draw two circles for the eyes between the two lines that were drawn in the circle. Make sure they are large enough to touch both the top and bottom horizontal lines. They do not need to touch the sides of the circle.
- 7). Draw a semicircle inside the eyes to create the iris. Add a black circle or semi circle inside that for the pupil. Draw another circle anywhere in the eye and make it white. This will be the place where the eyeball is reflecting light, and is very important for anime.
- 8). Draw a vertical line from the base of the nose upward. Give it a slight curve at the base, making it bulge toward the outside of the circle to create the nose.
- 9). Give your character a lip with an arc facing up or down. If it is facing up, it will give the character a smile.

Add a neck by drawing lines extending from the base of the V and curved outward. - 11
Erase the extra lines, such as the circle and the horizontal lines through the circle.
