Almost directly after the X10 Mini comes Sony Ericssons X10 Mini Pro. The device is basically the same as its predecessor, but with one key addition. The addition is a slide out QWERTY keyboard. With the keyboard in place there is ample support for the X10 Mini Pros range of messaging options and with built-in 3G social networking is also possible. You get a digital camera, GPS and FM radio as standard as well as full un-hindered access to the Android Market, compliments of the Android OS.
The 2.6 inch display has resistive touch technology built-in, along with an orientation sensor which allows the interface to follow the phones movements. The slider mechanism feels well built while the keyboard feels reliable and sturdy. The keys are well spaced and slightly raised so there will be few issues in hitting the right letters. Composing messages is a blast and a very fast process thanks to Sony Ericssons intuition. Only a few millimetres have been added here and there to accommodate the keyboard, but all in all they are hardly noticeable.
The X10 Mini Pro runs very smoothly on the Android OS while the pokey 600MHz processor shoots the phone from one page to the next at high speeds. The TimeScape overlay works wonders with the touch interface and paints a pretty picture with rich colours on the (QVGA) 240 x 320 pixel screen. TimeScape is a socially advanced UI which integrates your social network contacts into phonebook and generates a live stream of status updates, tweets and messages into one application.
Sony Ericsson have incorporated e-mail and IM into the messaging experience as standard. Google have offered there Gmail and Gtalk services, but Hotmail, WindowsLive and Yahoo! are also compatible. Along with turbo 3G, high speed Wi Fi provides super fast web connectivity for all your online needs, the browser has a bookmarks feature and the pan and zoom controls are very easy to use. Sony Ericsson have also thrown in a Google Search engine for the best possible search results.
As you work your way through the X10 Mini Pros various applications you will find the camera app which open up the phones photographic potential. A 5MP digital camera has found its way into the setup and it comes with both auto-focus and flash; it is fully capable of capturing great still images whilst it shoot gorgeous high resolution videos at roughly 20fps.
The multimedia player will handle pretty much handle anything you load up on it, a variety of both audio and video formats are playable, while a 3.5mm AV jack lets you listen via headphones. The memory expandability reaches 16GB via microSD card and the X10 Mini Pro is pre-loaded with Bluetooth technology allowing the phone to wirelessly communicate with compatible devices. the Xperia X10 Mini Pro is fully YouTube compatible, so sharing content is possible and built-in GPS means getting lost is a thing of the past.
Sony Ericsson have done well in producing a user friendly smartphone messenger. The X10 Mini Pros pocket size and high grade performance will win over plenty of buyers and with full access to the Android Market users can enjoy plenty of customization possibilities.
