Creative Table Leg Ideas

    • Table Legs That Stand Outtable image by dedicas from Fotolia.com

Finding the right table can be difficult. Not only does it have to be the right size and color for your decor, it also has to be the right height. That round table may look perfect, but the legs are too high. The vintage table is charming, but it sits two feet lower than your sofa. By making your own distinctive table legs, not only are you making a design statement, you're also guaranteed the legs will be exactly the right height.

    Chalk It Up to Pool

    • Use old pool cues as table legs. Measure the length of legs you will need. Cut the pool cues to that length, making sure that the thicker end (or handle) of the cue is closest to your table. Screw the cue stick segments into small wooden squares, then attach the squares to the bottom of the table.

    Stack Those Books

    • Measure the length of the leg you need for your table. Buy attractive used books that will stack to exactly that height. Use a hole saw to drill through the center of each book. Glue the book covers together with a strong adhesive. Put a steel rod through the stack of books and attach to the table top. Repeat three more times.

    Put a Sock in It!

    • For a young girl's desk, use pink leg warmers on each leg for a ballerina-themed room. For a budding sportsman, use athletic socks. Not only will you have a distinctive look to your furniture's legs, the socks will help protect the floor---particularly important if the floor is wood.
