  Seaside and Gearhart, Oregon, are two Pacific Northwest coastal towns that provide opportunities for beach activities, surfing and deep-sea fishing. Many tourists flock to Seaside for its family-friendly attractions, including the marine wildlife exhibits at the Seaside Aquarium and the annual Wheel 'N Waves car show. Although it is less commercial than its counterpart, visitors to Gearhart have quick access to nearby recreational areas, such as Saddle Mountain and Gearhart Ocean State Park.

• Worldmark Seaside is a luxurious, oceanfront hotel that is an approximate five-minute walk from the Seaside Civic and Convention Center, which hosts events throughout the year, including the annual Miss Oregon beauty pageant. This hotel is also a five-minute drive from the Lewis and Clark Salt Cairn Monument, where the famed explorers set up their coastal camp in the early 19th century. Trail's End Art Association

• Trail's End Art Association is a Gearhart art gallery less than five minutes from U.S. Highway 101 and the Pacific Coast. Founded in 1950, this art organization named itself Trail's End, in honor of the Lewis and Clark expedition in forming the Oregon Trail. The gallery features artwork from local, regional and national artists. Workshops for children and adults are offered throughout the year, including the Children's Art Camp in the summer. Trail's End changes the theme of pictures that they present monthly. Various themes include Impressionism, Surrealism and Moods.

• Situated on the Pacific Coast, Best Western Copley Plaza is within walking distance of the Seaside Aquarium and provides amenities such as a business center with fax services, indoor swimming pool, guest laundromat and an on-site Italian restaurant, Salvatore's, that serves breakfast and dinner. Parking spaces for large trucks and RVs are also available. Children under 18 stay for free with parents. Del Rey Beach State Park

• Del Rey Beach State Park is in the northern end of Gearhart and offers access to surfing, kiting and swimming activities. This beach is one of the few areas in Oregon where vehicles are allowed on to the sandbar. Del Rey Beach's parking lot is only a few minutes from the coast and there are no fees for use of the beach. There are no restroom facilities or boating facilities on the beach.
