Its Official: Dallas Cowboys to Move Practice Facility to Frisco
It's official: the City of Frisco says, "Welcome Dallas Cowboys!"
The Frisco City Council just voted to approve the deal between the Frisco Community Development Corporation, the Frisco Economic Development Corporation and Blue Star Stadium Inc., Blue Star HQ Inc. and Blue Star Frisco LP, all companies recently formed and affiliated with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his family.
The Dallas Cowboys will move its world headquarters and practice facility from Valley Ranch to Frisco with an expected opening for the 2016 football season.
The new facility is expected to include indoor/outdoor practice facilities, a stadium to be shared with the Frisco ISD, hotels and a host of other new businesses.
Frisco is a Sporting Town
The city of Frisco is already home to FC Dallas!, the NBA D-League Texas Legends, the Texas Tornado Hockey Team, the Texas Rangers AA affiliate Frisco RoughRiders, and is the practice facility for the Dallas Stars.
Friday Night Lights: How the Frisco ISD Benefits
Frisco ISD should also benefit from the Cowboys move to the area. The new facilities can be utilized to hold sporting events by the district.
Location
The Cowboy-owned facility will be housed on 91 acres at the corner of Warren Drive and the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco.
