How to Move Your IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) to a Bank

    • 1). Contact the IRA custodian for your account. Request the required minimum distribution (RMD) paperwork. This is a common form that may even be automatically generated for you once you turn age 70 1/2.

    • 2). Fill out the paperwork for the distribution. You will be able to request that the IRA custodian determine the IRA RMD amount. Some people get this figure from their accountant based on the aggregate value of all IRAs at the time you turn age 70 1/2.

    • 3). Attach a voided blank check to the paperwork. Request that the distribution go into this account. There should be a section on the paperwork that indicates this.

    • 4). Sign and submit the paperwork.

    • 5). Monitor your checking account for the RMD distribution. It should take a few days to clear your account.
